Eversince the summer is as hot as never before, fishing becomes more and more challenging. Here in Leipzig. The water level is low, the water is way too warm and tourism is making it worse. However, we decided to go for an early morning session, to avoid these obstacles, because fish is definitely around, but it´s just hard to catch them. At 5 o´clock in the morning we jumped on our boat and began our tour. Full of optimism thatour plan would work out, we fished every dock and bridge around us. A couple of hours past by, and it seemed like, the fish were not committing to the lures we used. The sun began to head up the day, very quick and we slowly had some doubts.
We did some alterations, and I put on a Black Minnow 90 Kaki, since they match baitfish the most. I casted beneath a narrow bridge, which seemed to stay quite dark during the day. When the lure hit the bottom, I jigged it a couple of times, and felt the strike I´ve waited for all morning. It was a heavy strike in my rod, which immediately started to bend.
A few moments later a nice 60cm Zander was in the net. For urban summer conditions it was amazing to catch such a fish. Once again it showed that fishing is about the unexpected and the believe in your knowledge, about the body of water you are fishing.
